The ones that make the best use of social causes are able to make the case that the issue they are pushing also serves their own best interests in a distinct way, such as campaigns like Google’s “Girls Who Code.”

“It’s the most authentic when it comes from the soul of a brand,” says Joe Corr, a principal at social good-focused agency School. “Purpose is not something that’s temporary — it’s something that should be a permanent part of the brand.”
